Talented forensic student storytellers from the Bloomfield Hills School district will weave their magical tales for children ages 6+, families and adults. Different stories each night. Scholarships for Young Adults: Northlands Storytelling Conference, April 23-25, is offering four Next Generation Scholarships to young adults ages 18-35 (no longer attending high school) interested in using storytelling in their respective fields. Application and information about the conference at

www.Northlands.net. Winners receive: Free admission to the conference, three nights shared lodging at Green Lake Conference Center, all meals Friday breakfast through Sunday breakfast, and entrance to all workshops, concerts, and fringes. Application deadline: March 15.

Learn concrete steps, adapted from storytelling, acting and writing, to developing texture and authenticity in your stories. Leave with a new story. Working in groups participants, at a minimum, will create and perform a new fable.

Highly interactive, entertaining and fun look at how effective communication enhances the art of storytelling. Focus on “Listening” and creative presentation techniques that keep audiences of all types involved.

With fond memories, we bid goodbye to two wonderful Michigan Storytellers

Bob Bauer passed away June 23 at the age of 78 after a long struggle with lung disease. He was a member of Macomb County Raconteurs, Parent-Tellers, Toast Masters, and Detroit Story League. Bob will be remembered for his wit and dry sense of humor. He loved wearing vests or a long cream colored tunic when he told stories to young people.

Bob Reay passed away on June 25 after a yearlong battle with leukemia. Bob was a member of the Parent Tellers, North Oakland County Storytellers, and the Detroit Story League. He will be remembered fondly for his enthusiasm and love of storytelling, his Scottish brogue and his kilt. A memorial will be held for Bob in late July or August.
